MANCHESTER - Residents, business owners and other interested parties are invited to attend a meeting at Manchester Town Hall to discuss the spring start-up of the Highland Avenue sewer, water and drainage project and the reconstruction of the Town-owned parking lot located at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Elm Street in the historic Depot District.

The meeting will begin at 4:00PM on Thursday, March 31 at Town Hall in the Kilburn Meeting Room. Town officials, engineers from Dufresne Group (the Town's contract engineering firm) and the Town's contractor will be present to discuss the upcoming schedule for the spring of 2011.

At the request of area businesses and residents, the Town agreed to begin the reconstruction of the Depot District during mud season. As a result, the contractor plans to break ground on April 11. The parking lot will be closed during the construction. Construction will improve pavement and grade conditions of the current parking lot, install new lighting, granite curb and signage, and improve overall circulation, drainage and aesthetics. Work will shift back to Highland Avenue around May 1. The Town started replacing sewer and water mains and improving roadway drainage in the Fall of 2010. The roadway will be resurfaced and striped in the Fall of 2011. Funding for the projects was approved by Town Meeting voters in March of 2010.

Individuals with questions about the meeting are encouraged to contact John O'Keefe, Town Manager, at 802-362-1313 (option 2) or email j.okeefe@manchester-vt.gov.
